Blessing of the Fleet commemorates the time-honored tradition of the Southern Maryland Watermen’s fleet of boats. This event has taken place at the Historical St. Clements Island, hosted by 7th district optimist club for over 50 years, and was enjoyed again over this past weekend of October 5th & 6th 2019

This event included tours of St. Clements Island, Blackistone Lighthouse, and St Clements Island Museum, Free boat excursions, local food and craft vendors, children’s activities such as bouncy houses, as fireworks lit the sky on sat. Night, after the live entertainment from Local Artist Robbie Boothe and Nashville’s record artist Nathan Osmond

For those who aren’t familiar with Nathan Osmond, he is the 2nd oldest of 8 boys and is the son of Suzanne Osmond and Alan Osmond from the performing group The Osmonds. He is surely making a name for himself with No.1 hit singles on various country charts, to being on stage with Carrie Underwood, Martina McBride, Trace Adkins and others, and was recently nominated as “New artist of the year” “Male Vocalist of the year” and “Country Breakthrough of the year” by the new music awards in Las Angeles. He took the stage and put on a great show for Southern Maryland, from interacting with the crowd allowing them to sing in parts of his songs, bringing Robbie Boothe on stage to perform together the popular hit “Sweet Home Alabama” by Leonard Skynard.

It was a great turn out as Southern Maryland residents came together to celebrate all of these festivities.  Despite the wind and cooler temps that spread over our area this weekend a lot of people still came out and was a part of this event.
