(Waldorf MD., May 19, 2015)— Coming off losing three of four to Somerset at Regency Furniture Stadium this past weekend, the Blue Crabs took game one of a three game set by the 7-6 final.

In the top of the second, the Blue Crabs would score first.  Casey Stevenson singled with one out.  Two batters later, Casey Frawley doubled to allow Stevenson score.

Later in the top of the fourth, Southern Maryland put up a four spot to take a 5-0 lead.  Cyle Hankerd hit his first of two homers on the night.  The next hitter Daryle Ward banged out a single.  Casey Stevenson would then be hit by a pitch top put runners at first and second.  After a Fred Lewis walk, and a strikeout of Casey Frawley, Tyler Wagner laced a single to score Ward.  Antone DeJesus followed with a sacrifice fly to score Stevenson, and the next hitter Renny Osuna would single to score Fred Lewis to make it 5-0.

Each team would exchange two runs in the top of the fifth.  Cyle Hankerd hit his second homer of the night, and after back to back singles by Stevenson, and Lewis, Casey Frawley doubled to score Stevenson to make it 7-0.  In the bottom of the frame, Carlos Guzman walked, and Evan Crawford doubled to score Guzman.  The next hitter Nathaniel Coronado singled to score Evan Crawford to make it 7-2.

Southern Maryland loaded the bases in the top of the sixth, but Fred Lewis struck out looking to end the threat.  Camden capitalized by scoring two runs in the bottom of the inning.  Jose Gil doubled, and Mike Costanzo would drive one over the wall for a two run homer to make it 7-4.

After adding a run in the bottom of the eighth, Erik Hamren came on for the save attempt in the bottom of the ninth.  Joel Guzman led things off and doubled.  Guzman advanced to third on a wild pitch, and Carlos Guzman would drive in Joel with a groundout to second.  Evan Crawford would wrap a single to right, and steal second to put the tying run in scoring position.  Hamren would strikeout Nathaniel Corondo, and Michael Rocket flew out to right field to end the ballgame and give the Blue Crabs the 7-6 victory.

RHP Jake Hale picked up his third win of the year, going six innings, allowing four runs on four hits, walking two, and striking out three.  Renny Osuna went 3-5 with an RBI, while Cyle Hankerd and Casey Frawley both drove in two runs.

Game two of the series will commence tomorrow at Campbell’s field, as RHP Shaun Garceau (1-1, 2.51) will throw for the Blue Crabs, and RHP Wes Torres (1-1, 2.87) will take the hill for Camden.  The first pitch is set for 7:05.
