Bridgeport, CTโ€” After a washout on Monday night, The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs played four hours and fifteen minutes of baseball Tuesday against the Bridgeport Bluefish at Harbor Yard ending the Crabs winning streak, but igniting a new one, splitting a doubleheader dropping the morning game 4-2 and hanging on for a 6-4 victory in the afternoon game.

The Bluefish jumped out to an early start scoring four runs in the first inning.

Southern Maryland Blue Crabs starting pitcher Tim Sexton walked the first two batters of the inning, including infielder Luis Hernandez and outfielder Endy Chavez.ย  Infielder Jose Cuevas followed Chavez and laced an RBI single to plate Hernandez.

The offense continued to rattle Sexton. Still with no outs, Outfielder Jonathan Galvez ripped a triple to left field, allowing Chavez and Cuevas to trot home putting the Bluefish up 3-0.ย  Sexton continued to struggle walking the next batter, infielder Luis An. Rodriguez hit into a room-service double-play ball but Galvez was still able to score to extend the lead 4-0.
