The Tallest Buildings In Baltimore
100 Light Street – 529 Feet
Widely known as the TransAmerica Tower, 100 Light Street sits in the heart of downtown Baltimore and can be seen far and wide due to its status as the tallest building in Maryland. It was completed in 1973, making this skyscraper over fifty years old as of 2026.
Sitting at about 529 feet in the air with 40 stories in total, there’s no other building in the entire state that can rival its impressive size. Though it was recently known as the TransAmerica Tower before the company left, 100 Light Street was actually built to be the USF&G Building for the United States Fidelity and Guarantee Company.
Arrive Inner Harbor – 509 Feet
At 509 feet when measured up to the roof, Arrive Inner Harbor is a historic high-rise building that was completed in 1929, and it has gone through many transformations over the years. This skyscraper was once known as the Baltimore Trust Company Building, then more recently as the Bank of America Building.
Arrive Inner Harbor, also known as 10 Light Street, has now settled into a new role as an apartment building. With over 30 floors and historic architecture, the exterior of Arrive Inner Harbor is one of the best selfie spots in all of Baltimore City!
414 Light Street – 500 Feet
Among the newer buildings on this list, 414 Light Street became one of the tallest buildings in Maryland when it was completed in 2018. Standing at 500 feet tall with over 40 levels, this skyscraper serves the Baltimore community as a luxury apartment building.
Prior to the construction of 414 Light Street, the space was used as a parking lot. Hundreds of apartments are available within the interior, offering beautiful penthouse views of the Inner Harbor at the very top!
William Donald Schaefer Building – 493 Feet
The William Donald Schaefer Building earns a spot as the fourth-tallest building in the Old Line State, standing at 493 feet with 37 floors. In 2026, the Schaefer Building is primarily used for offices.
How the Schaefer Building got its name is perhaps its most interesting bit of history, as it was renamed for Baltimore Mayor William Donald Schaefer, who also served as the governor of Maryland for two terms.
Commerce Place – 454 Feet
A very tall Baltimore building designed with postmodern architecture, Commerce Place has 31 floors stretching up to its roughly 454-foot height. The various levels are used for retail, parking, and offices, so this building has multiple purposes.
Commerce Place finished its construction phase in 1992, making it a fairly young building in a historic city like Baltimore. Currently, Commerce Place is the fifth-tallest building in Charm City.

One Of The Tallest Buildings In Southern Maryland – Horizons On The Bay
The tallest building in Southern Maryland is hard to pin down since there’s a lack of public information, but Horizons on the Bay in Chesapeake Beach appears to be one of the region’s tallest buildings, as it boasts eight stories in total. This waterfront building is a condo complex, offering residents scenic views of the Chesapeake Bay in Calvert County.
With a variety of exciting amenities like a swimming pool and individual balconies, Horizons on the Bay is among the most luxurious waterfront buildings in Southern Maryland, and it’s one of the tallest buildings in the region as well.
The Tallest Building In Western Maryland – The NewCold Warehouse
The NewCold Automated Cold Storage Warehouse is located in Hagerstown, Maryland. At around 150 feet tall, this facility is used to handle frozen foods by utilizing a variety of robotic systems.
NewCold’s robotic technology is quite advanced, so their warehouse provides a glimpse into the future in Western Maryland. The NewCold Warehouse features 15 levels, and at around 150 feet, there aren’t many buildings in the region that come close to rivaling its size.
The Tallest Building On The Eastern Shore – Century I Condominium
Boasting 25 levels from top to bottom, the Century I Condominium in Ocean City is widely considered to be one of the tallest buildings on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.
With balconies for residents and a waterfront view, Century I Condominium is the place to be if you’re seeking spectacular ocean views in Maryland. There are plenty of tall buildings across Maryland’s many beaches, but this one takes the cake for its great height.
The Tallest Building In Annapolis – United States Naval Academy Chapel
Annapolis has a few buildings known for their height. The tallest is the United States Naval Academy Chapel, which stretches all the way up to about 210 feet. The chapel boasts distinct architecture, and it’s fairly old, with construction beginning around 1904.
The Maryland State House is 181 feet tall, so it towers over the city since it’s located on a hill, but it still only earns the title of second-tallest in Annapolis when measured from top to bottom. Though the architecture in Annapolis is on the smaller side compared to cities like Baltimore, the taller buildings within Maryland’s capital are arguably more impressive since they were constructed so long ago.
The Tallest Structure In Maryland – WBFF Television Tower
As far as we can tell based on measurement data available online, the WBFF Television Tower in Baltimore is Maryland’s tallest man-made structure. It reaches up to 1,280 feet, dwarfing even the largest skyscrapers in Baltimore.
Built in 1987, the WBFF Television Tower’s primary function is to transmit radio and television broadcast signals. While the WBFF Television Tower may not be a building, it’s still one of the most impressive structures that Maryland has to offer.
