Update– 1:30 p.m.ย 

According to St.Mary’s Countyย Sheriff’s Office “At approximately 10:50 a.m. this morning, Lexington Park Elementary School received a call advising there was a bomb in the school that would go off in thirty seconds. Numerous K9 units, Patrol Units and the Lexington Park COPs Unit responded to the scene.”

A complete search of the interior and exterior of the school yielded negative results for explosive devices.

At this time, it is unknown if this threat is related to similar incidents being investigated by authorities in Maryland and Delaware.

Update– 12:25 p.m.ย 

According to St.Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office, “K9 Units have cleared the interior and exterior of the school with negative results. The school will resume normal activities.”


UPDATE – 12:13 p.m.

According to Kimberly Short, who is the Executive Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent and Deputy Superintendent, “At this time St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office is searching the school for any threats. The Sheriff’s Office is doing an extensive search through the building. We believe that this threat is non-creditable.”


UPDATE – 12:10 p.m.ย 

The St. Mary’s County Police Department has released the following statement:

“Lexington Park Elementary School received a bomb threat this morning. Bomb-detecting K9 Units have cleared the inside of the school and are actively searching the perimeter and outdoor classrooms. The school will remain on lock down until the scene has been cleared. Additional information will be provided as the incident progresses.”
