It isnโt supposed to be the DJs who are โoutโ when the music stops. However, since the departure of well-loved radio personalities, Heather and T-Bone, at Star 98.3 no-one can seem to stay in the DJ chairs for long. With Boomer and Dawn reportedly packing their bags, SOMAR Communications has lost its third set of hosts in six months.
In March of this year Heather and T Bone, the locally renowned morning hosts, resigned from their position with the radio station. The couple said they planned to move toย Pensylvannia to open a deli. They were rumored to be disgruntled with grueling hours and inflexibility at the station. The departure began to look less amicable as they mysteriously disappeared from the show even before they were scheduled to leave. One source at the radio station told The Bay Net that the couple was beaten to their departure date by the administration, which, displeased by one of their shows, changed the locks the next morning.
In May the radio stations excitedly introduced their new personality, Moondog Michaels. Moondog arrived in Southern Maryland after relocating from the west coast in order to take a job with SOMAR Communications, the owners of FM 97.7, 98.3 and 102.9. After overseeing the stationโs transition to a new format, Moondog was fired only a month later, in June.
Moondog, at that time, told The Bay Net, that his replacement had already been hired, and that the dismissal came as a complete surprise to him. Shortly after his sudden departure, Boomer andย Dawn took over as DJs for Star 98.3 FM (WSMD), in particular the weekday morning broadcasts from 5:30am until 10am.
Now The Bay Net can confirm the latest radio personalities are on the move, also. Dawn and Boomer, who were in the process of settling in Southern Maryland, and purchasing a home here, have seemingly changed their minds. The couple is now reportedly moving to Illinois and planning to work from home, self-employed, until they find a new position with another station.
The Bay Net contacted SOMAR Communications but no-one was available for comment. They were also contacted after the dismissal of Moondog Michaels and manager, Roy Robertson, refused comment.
