Last Saturday was a crisp day but it was warm inside the Naughty Gull Restaurant in Solomons as patrons enjoyed the annual Breakfast with Santa event.

“The popular event keeps growing each year,” says owner Pat Emmons who has been hosting the annual breakfast for four years.  She further says about the buffet-style breakfast and visit “It gives a better touch then going to the mall.” The setting definitely provides a more relaxed venue for the little ones’ annual visit than the bustle of a mall amid frantic Christmas shoppers.

The location allows for a quaint and quiet visit with Santa by the fireplace where the children can share their Christmas wishes.  Liz Bowen, a valuable employee at the Naughty Gull helps to facilitate the event and is on hand to take pictures of the children with Santa.  Each child who visits receives an instant picture and a small treat from the jolly man to take home.

This year an additional seating was added to accommodate the guests of all ages.  Each seating fills up the Naughty Gull with families who share the breakfast in the intimate waterfront setting.  Emmons stated that they are able to serve approximately ninety children over the three seatings.

The room was full of children’s smiles and laughter and plenty of Christmas cheer.  I recommend you make your reservations early for next year’s event.

The Naughty Gull is one of the few waterfront dining restaurants in the area.  You cannot too often find the friendly atmosphere and good food for a quiet lunch, dinner or cocktail while enjoying the waterfront view.

The Naughty Gull is open throughout the winter and is located on the water between Spring Cove Marina and the Holiday Inn on Solomons. The Naughty Gull is open for lunch Monday through Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.  Dinner is available from 2:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and until 9:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights.  They feature a Sunday brunch from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with Dinner and Sandwiches available from 12:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
