Prince Frederick, MD – The Calvert County Department of Parks & Recreation will host a community cleanup day at Breezy Point Beach & Campground and invites citizens to participate in an effort to protect the Chesapeake Bay. The event will be held Saturday, Sept. 21 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Participants will meet Parks & Recreation staff under a tent located near the Breezy Point main office upon arrival. Pick sticks, buckets, gloves and water will be provided. Volunteer groups and scouting organizations are welcome.
The event is being held in support of International Coastal Cleanup Day started by the nonprofit environmental advocacy group Ocean Conservancy.
“Breezy Point Beach & Campground is a loved vacation spot in Calvert County and we strive to ensure that it is clean and safe for all of us,” said Parks & Recreation Director Shannon Nazzal. “We are excited to engage the local community with a common goal of protecting the Chesapeake Bay and keeping our county beautiful.”
Citizens can register for Community Cleanup Day and other Parks & Recreation events and classes by creating an account in the department’s online registration system. Activity number is 190100. Registration for this event is not required, but encouraged. For more information call 410-535-0259.
