MECHANICSVILLE, Md. – What started as a hobby turned into a successful small business for a Leonardtown man.
Busy Corner Buggies owner, Chris Burroughs, and his father began building golf carts in his garage 11 years ago. The two then branched out into repairing the vehicles as well. According to Burroughs, business began to boom. “We quickly grew out of the garage and moved.”
Once settled in a new location, he expanded the business even more to include lawnmowers. The business kept growing. “We have expanded both of those lines and added a new line of compact tractors, which we are extremely excited about.”
Chris said that even though the business has grown and added employees, it is still a family-run small business at heart and that’s what makes it stand out from the competition. “In businesses similar to mine, you often will not see the owner, but I am there every day. I make sure that I stay involved with all of my customers.”
He says he makes sure to take the time to get to know all of his customers. “Most of my family is involved with my business so I like to make sure that our customers feel as if they are a part of our family as well.”
Busy Corner Buggies sells new and refurbished golf carts, utility vehicles, commercial mowers, and turf equipment, and can also customize the vehicles as well as provide maintenance. They service not only Maryland, but the surrounding Washington, DC, Virginia, and Pennsylvania area.
Chris said satisfied customers are a priority. “We work hard to keep them happy. We will do whatever it takes to ensure that they walk out of our shop with the product or information they need.”
He’s especially excited about the addition of the Bobcat Ground Equipment to the store’s product line. “Everyone knows Bobcat for their excavator equipment and the quality of these machines. The same quality is carried to this new line. Bobcat offers compact tractors from 21 to 58 horsepower, with open or closed cabs. The utility vehicles are gas or diesel. The mowers offer 42-inch to 72-inch cuts. Bobcat’s line is aggressively growing and we are very excited for the future of the line.”
