Anyoneย who has an eye for detail, a sleuth-like mind, a nod toward adventure and loves a good mystery is invited to celebrate Charles County’s 350th Anniversary by participating in the Heritage Photo Scavenger Hunt.
ย This second event, hosted by the Nanjemoy Community Center gives registered contestants clues to 20 historic locations. All picture-taking sleuths have to do is solve the clues.
ย According to Sarah Hope, Nanjemoy Community Center program director, โIt is a great activity for families.โ She stated that all the clues involve historical sites in Charles County. โFamilies can work together to solve the clues, map out the best way to find the site and decide on the best picture to submit.โ

ย Those interested in entering the contest only need to stop by the Nanjemoy Community Center between now and Aug. 25 and fill out the registration form to receive their clues. โAll contestants need to do after they register is figure out the clues and take a picture, said Hope.
ย When the contest is over on Sept. 8 they bring in their pictures and the one with the most correct pictures wins a prize. In case of a tie, Hope and others will divvy up the prizes.
ย Entry photos may be presented printed or on a photo CD. The photos must be originals taken for this contest. โWeโd like all the photos to be time stamped so we can be sure they were taken for the contest,โ said Hope.
ย Contestants are asked to be at the Nanjemoy Community Center on Sept. 8, between 6:30 and 7:30 p.m., to submit their entries. Contestants will enjoy free refreshments while the center staff reviews the entries.
ย Event is supported by a grant from Charles County Arts Alliance, and Maryland State Arts Council, an agency funded by the State of Maryland & National Endowment for the Arts.
