SOLOMONS, Md. — The Department of Paleontology at the Calvert Marine Museum (CMM) is delighted to announce that Stephen Groff has become the museum’s new assistant curator of paleontology.
Groff knows the museum very well, having been a CMM junior docent, then a volunteer. He is presently the museum’s Fossil Club president and also one of the Department of Paleontology’s research associates.
Groff brings a wealth of experience and passion for the preservation of the rich fossil resources preserved here in Calvert County along Calvert Cliffs and within the state of Maryland. He has named a new species of extinct animal and has had another species named in his honor. Groff is excited to continue the tradition of the museum to make new discoveries and share those as widely as possible.
Explore how the prehistoric past, natural environments, and maritime heritage come to life and tell a unique story of the Chesapeake Bay. The Calvert Marine Museum is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Admission is $11 for adults, $9 for seniors, military, and veterans with valid ID, AAA and AARP members, $6 for children ages 5 – 12, children under 5 and museum members are admitted free. Proud participant in Museums for ALL.
