St. Leonard, MD โ€“ย A fire that damaged a home in Calvert County late Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 23 remains under investigation, state officials reported. According to the Maryland State Fire Marshalโ€™s Office the blaze at a two-story, wood-framed, single family house on Leos Way in St. Leonard was discovered and reported by the homeowner at approximately 5:40 p.m.

โ€œThe owners discovered a fire outside, under their deck in a stacked pile of cut firewood,โ€ a deputy fire marshalโ€™s report stated. โ€œThe fire quickly extended to the wooden deck above before the fire department arrived and contained it to the exterior of the house.โ€
No injuries were reported. Damage to the property is estimated at $80,000. The homeโ€™s occupants were identified as the Loveless family.

Twenty-five firefighters were dispatched to the one-alarm blaze and brought the flames under control in 20 minutes. Anyone who might have information that could aid investigators should call the Maryland State Fire Marshalโ€™s Southern Regional Office at 443-550-6820.
