MAN CHARGED WITH THEFT: On May 29 at 2:20 a.m., officers responded to the area of Gallery Place in Waldorf for a trespassing call. When officers arrived, they spoke with neighborhood security officers who were detaining a man who was in possession of a back pack that contained several stolen items including cell phones and GPS units. Officers traced one of the phones back to its owner who indicated his phone had been stolen from his truck on Justice Court earlier in the week. Tramell Vandell Dorsey, 19, of Waldorf, was arrested and charged with theft. Officers are in the process of trying to locate the owners of the other recovered items. PFC M. Sokoloff is investigating.

TRAFFIC OPERATIONS UNIT CONDUCTS TWO DUI CHECK POINTS: The CCSO Traffic Operations Unit, along with the Tactical Response Unit, the COPS Unit and Patrol Unit, recently conducted two sobriety check points. The first check point was on May 27 on Indian Head Highway at Downs Drive. During the operation, 924 vehicles passed through the check point. A total of 20 citations, 8 warnings and 1 equipment repair order were issued for various violations.

On May 25, a sobriety check point was conducted near Billingsley Road and Duttonโs Bridge in Bryans Road. During the operation, a total of 339 vehicles passed through the check point. Officers issued 7 traffic citations and arrested Daryl Thomas Smith, 38, of Accokeek, who was driving on a suspended license and had open warrants.ย ย
