LA PLATA, Md. – Commissioner President Reuben B. Collins, II, Esq. ordered the Charles County flag to be lowered to half-staff effective immediately and returned to full-staff at sunset April 18, 2024 to honor Waldorf Volunteer Fire Department, Company 3, Active member Mr. Corey Porter. Mr. Porter passed away on April 8, 2024.
Corey joined the Waldorf VFD – Company 3 in early 2017, following in the footsteps of his father and life member Scott Porter. Corey was well liked and respected in the department.
Corey was hired by the Naval District Washington Fire Department – Patuxent River in 2021. Throughout the years of his career, he became a truck driver, and was in the process of becoming an acting officer.
As a respectful reminder, the Charles County flag will remain at half-staff honoring Ms. Lucinia Mundy and returned to full staff on the date of interment. (TBD).
