Charles County Public Schools will honor 2,099 seniors on May 30, andย June 2-3ย during graduation ceremonies for six high schools. Students in the Class of 2014 were offered nearly $55 million in scholarship offers. Valedictorians and salutatorians were announced earlier this week. These positions are determined by studentsโ grade-point averages and represent the top academic achievers at each school.
Henry E. Lackey High Schoolโs valedictorian is George Jenkins III of La Plata and the salutatorian is Tyler Turner of Marbury.ย Jenkins plans to attend the University of Maryland College Park to study electrical engineering. Turner plans to study business management at the University of Florida.
La Plata High Schoolโs valedictorian is Julianna Dawson of Charlotte Hall and the salutatorian is Danielle Lauterborn of Waldorf. Dawson plans to attend Mercer University to study biochemistry and pre-medicine. Lauterborn is attending High Point University in the fall and plans to major in electronic media and business.ย
Christina Paras is Maurice J. McDonough High Schoolโs valedictorian. She is attending the University of Maryland College Park in the fall and plans to study broadcast journalism. Taylor Blare is the salutatorian at McDonough and will also attend the University of Maryland College Park in the fall to study Biology.ย
