The Charles County Sheriff’s Office conducted a multi-jurisdictional warrant sweep between 11 p.m. Oct. 9 and 7 a.m. Oct. 10. The Domestic Violence Unit coordinated the sweep as part of the fifth annual National Family Violence Apprehension Detail held Oct. 18.

Thirty-eight Sheriff’s officers, correctional officers, Maryland State Police troopers from the La Plata and Forestville barracks, Prince George’s County Police Department officers, Maryland Transportation Authority officers and Maryland Natural Resources Police officers attempted warrant service at 72 locations in Charles and Prince George’s counties. As a result of their efforts, 40 warrants were served. The total reflects the number of offenders arrested during the sweep as well as the few arrested as a result of the sweep. The warrants were for domestic violence, child support violations and other crimes.
