The Charles County Sheriffโ€™s Office conducted a multi-jurisdictional warrant sweep between 11 p.m. Oct. 9 and 7 a.m. Oct. 10. The Domestic Violence Unit coordinated the sweep as part of the fifth annual National Family Violence Apprehension Detail held Oct. 18.

Thirty-eight Sheriffโ€™s officers, correctional officers, Maryland State Police troopers from the La Plata and Forestville barracks, Prince Georgeโ€™s County Police Department officers, Maryland Transportation Authority officers and Maryland Natural Resources Police officers attempted warrant service at 72 locations in Charles and Prince Georgeโ€™s counties. As a result of their efforts, 40 warrants were served. The total reflects the number of offenders arrested during the sweep as well as the few arrested as a result of the sweep. The warrants were for domestic violence, child support violations and other crimes.
