ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Governor’s Office of Crime Control and Prevention (GOCCP) today announced the availability of nearly $300,000 in funding from the federal Children’s Justice Act (CJAC) grant program
Funding from the program is administered by the GOCCP’s Children’s Justice Act Committee and is awarded to organizations that demonstrate knowledge of, and commitment to, improving the administrative, judicial, and investigative handling of criminal and/or civil child abuse and neglect cases. Awardees may include non-profit agencies, child advocacy centers, criminal justice agencies such as police departments and local departments of social services. Funding can be used for such things as training or other supportive services.
“These grants have a great impact in the community,” said V. Glenn Fueston, GOCCP Executive Director. “If the funding can help with training or other administrative costs, that will allow the awardees to focus their funds in other ways to protect children from abuse and neglect.”
This is the 14th year of the grant. The deadline to apply is August 10, 2018. Since the program began in 2004, more than $3 million has been awarded from the program.
