BRYANTOWN, Md. — A staff member of T.C. Martin Elementary School in Bryantown is under investigation for inappropriate conduct with students, according to a spokesperson for the Charles County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO).
“After being contacted by families from T.C. Martin Elementary School this week, we have launched an investigation into this matter. This is an active, ongoing investigation,” CCSO wrote in an email to The BayNet.
CCSO did not confirm whether the staff member was still employed at the school or provide additional details at this time. The spokesperson added that “any questions regarding school-related matters or other aspects of this case should be directed to the Charles County Public Schools.”
Shelley Mackey, director of communications and media relations for Charles County Public Schools, wrote in an email to The BayNet that the district does not comment on personnel matters. Mackey did not comment on whether a staff member had been fired, terminated or suspended over the allegations, or whether there was an open investigation at the school for the same reason.
Mackey shared the following letter from Maria V. Navarro, superintendent of schools, that was sent to T.C. Martin parents and staff on Wednesday, May 13.
Parents have posted online about their concerns about allegations, accusing the school and principal Ethel Hosendorf of not taking concerns seriously.
The BayNet could not confirm the identity of the accused person or whether they were still employed at the school in relation to the social media accusations or the active CCSO investigation. The investigation remains ongoing, and The BayNet will provide updates as additional information becomes available.
