On April 8, a lookout was dispatched for a possible drunk driver.ย Corporal C Earle observed the vehicle and stopped it as it pulled into the Fast Stop at intersection of Route 235 and Route 6 in Mechanicsville.ย 

The driver was identified as Edward Raleigh Curley, IV, 28 of Mechanicsville.ย  Curley appeared to be under the influence and was given a field sobriety test.ย  As a result of the test Curley was arrested for driving under the influence.ย  Once arrested Curley became disorderly and refused to be placed in the police cruiser by flinging his body and kicking.ย  Curley was eventually placed in the cruiser.ย  Search incident to the arrest revealed controlled dangerous substance paraphernalia and suspected cocaine residue.ย 

Cherry Bien Sy, 25 of Mechanicsville, was the front seat passenger of Curleyโ€™s vehicle.ย  Further search incident to the arrest revealed plastic baggies containing schedule II and schedule III controlled pills and cocaine residue.ย  No prescription pill bottles with Sy’s name were located in the vehicle.ย  Sy was arrested.ย  Sy also became disorderly upon arrest and refused to be placed in the police cruiser.ย 

Both subjects were charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
