Leonardtown, MD – St. Maryโ€™s County paused to acknowledge the contributions made by small businesses to the economic growth and quality of life around the county, statewide and nationwide with a Small Business Month proclamation.

In partnering with local organizations, St. Maryโ€™s County supports small businesses, which represents major opportunities for economic development, innovation, growth and expansion in communities around the county.

โ€œSmall businesses generate a large percentage of jobs in St. Maryโ€™s County and a large majority of our small businesses employ fewer than five people,โ€ said Commissioner Tom Jarboe (1stย  District). โ€œGovernment contributes to small business growth through its economic growth strategy and various business growth incentive programs.

The commissioners invite all citizens to support the numerous small businesses that form the heart of the St. Maryโ€™s County business community during Small Business Month.
