
Leonardtown, MD – Following the recent death of George Floyd, the Commissioners of St. Mary’s County reaffirm the County’s commitment to diversity, inclusion, freedom, and justice.
“We, the Commissioners of St. Mary’s County recognize that the death of George Floyd was horrendous. We mourn with his family, his hometown and with the African American community. We condemn the egregious actions of those who took part in his death. We strongly condemn all acts of violence and support the rights of our citizens to protest peacefully.”
The Commissioners reiterated their stance on the inequitable treatment of any persons as stated in the 2018 Resolution Affirming the County’s Commitment to Diversity, Inclusion, Freedom and Justice.
