
WASHINGTON — Events DC is proud to announce an unforgettable lineup of Washington sports legends and local entertainment icons for “RFK Legacy: A Tailgate Experience.” This free community celebration will honor the historic Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 5, from 1 to 5 p.m. at The Fields at RFK Campus.
For more than 60 years, RFK Stadium served as the heartbeat of the nation’s capital, hosting legendary sporting events and world-class entertainment. This event invites fans to relive those memories and celebrate the stadium’s enduring cultural impact.
RFK Legacy: A Tailgate Experience will feature fan experiences, autograph and photo opportunities, live performances, intramural sports and other family-friendly activities.

Fans will have the exclusive opportunity to meet Washington sports icons, including:

- Quentin Lowry
- Dexter Manley

The program will also feature special appearances from Washington Nationals figures, including Ryan Zimmerman and Paxton Baker.

The tailgate will feature a vibrant mix of D.C.-area talent, ensuring a high-energy atmosphere for all ages. Performances include:

Celebrating a Storied History
The event will also mark the official premiere of “Echoes of RFK,” a new six-episode podcast series chronicling the stadium’s profound history and influence, produced by Andy Pollin in partnership with Events DC.
Throughout Saturday’s event, attendees will be able to scan QR codes at designated locations across the RFK campus to listen to all episodes of the podcast through the Events DC app, allowing guests to experience the stories and memories of RFK while standing on the grounds where so much of that history happened.
From its opening in 1961, RFK Stadium became a cornerstone of D.C. life, hosting the Washington Senators, the Washington Commanders, the Washington Nationals and D.C. United. Beyond professional sports, the venue served as a global stage for the 1994 World Cup, the 1996 Olympics and legendary concerts by artists ranging from the Beatles and the Rolling Stones to Michael Jackson, Madonna and local legends like Wale and Rare Essence.
