At 6:14 a.m. April 20 Waldorf Volunteer Firefighters responded to a working building fire in Gillespies Trailer Home Park.

Engine 401 and Engine 31 arrived on the scene to find that a juvenile victim had been pulled from the house by a Charles County Sheriff’s officer and an off-duty DCFD firefighter on his way home from work.

The officer and passerby had forced the rear door and pulled the unconscious victim out of the home.

E-401 and E-31 arrived on the scene with very heavy fire in the trailer. The units attacked the fire with support from Truck 1. E-122 worked to protect exposures.

Primary and secondary searches were negative.

The State Fire Marshall arrived and began investigation.

The female victim was treated by EMS units and transported by Helicopter to Children’s Hospital Center.
