Hollywood, MD – On July 18, 2018 at 7:19 p.m., TFC Manning of the Leonardtown Barrack, was operating MSP Unmarked Ford Explorer unit T-5. TFC Manning had initiated a traffic stop on the northbound shoulder of MD 235, in the area of Ricky Drive, Hollywood, Maryland. Manning was stationary on the shoulder of the roadway, with his emergency lights activated. As TFC Manning was sitting in his vehicle, completing the traffic stop, a bicyclist, who was traveling northbound on the shoulder of the roadway, struck the rear of T-5.
The bicyclist, identified as Timothy Ignatius Butler, 54, was tended to by EMS personnel and subsequently flown to Baltimore Shock Trauma Center by MSP Aviation helicopter Trooper 7 for his injuries. At this time there is no updated status on his injuries.
Manning sustained no physical injuries, and there was minor damage done to the rear of T-5.

Hollywood, MD – A bicyclist was seriously injured around 7 p.m. Wednesday evening, July 18 after, which was traveling on Route 235 into the glaring, setting sun struck the rear of a Maryland State Police (MSP) cruiser, responders and witnesses reported. The trooper operating the motor vehicle was conducting a traffic stop when the collision occurred, witnesses stated. The injured cyclist was flown to a regional trauma center by MSP helicopter. No names have been released, the investigation is continuing and a report is pending.
Hollywood, MD – At 7 p.m. a vehicle crash was reported on Three Notch Road in the area of Rickey Drive. Southbound Route 235 is currently shut down at Sandgates. Motorists bound for the area should proceed with caution and expect delays.
There are reports that one injured person will be flown to a regional trauma center. It has been reported from the scene that the injured person was riding a bicycle.
