
Dale Edward Powers, 85, of Mechanicsville, MD, passed away on January 24, 2025. Dale was born on August 5, 1938, in Mill Hall, PA, to Clarence and Mary Powers.
After graduating from Sugar Valley School in 1956. He went on to join the United States Navy. After leaving the Navy, he worked at Piper Aircraft until 1963 when he joined the United States Air Force. During his service, he developed a strong sense of discipline and dedication, which he carried throughout his life.
In 1964, he met his future wife Dolores (Dolly) and were wed in the same year. They had three children: Maria Wadley (Bill) of California, MD, Carol Youmans (Mike) of Mechanicsville, MD, and John Powers (Theresa) of Peyton, CO. and went on to celebrate their 60th Wedding Anniversary in October.
Following his military service, Dale worked as a radio technician in Everglades National Park. In the late 70โs, he transferred to the United States Park Police in Washington, DC. After retiring from the Park Police, he held several diverse positions, including roles as a substitute school bus driver, a commuter bus driver for Keller, an oil truck driver for Burch Oil, a long-haul cargo truck driver and an excavator. He was known for his hard work and adaptability, always ready to take on new challenges with enthusiasm and a smile. Dale’s varied career path showcased his love for learning and his ability to connect with people from all walks of life.
Dale was predeceased by his parents and half-sister Irene Kern. He is survived by his beloved wife, children, grandchildren Kenneth (Rita), Alexandra, Nicole (DJ), Samantha (Cory), Jessica, John, Jr., Zacharia, Madison, Jordan, Zoe, Jaden, Zusanah, and Evangeline. He is also survived by great-grandchildren, Archer and Leo.
