
FORT WASHINGTON, Md. – The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit identified and charged a suspect wanted for a recent murder in Fort Washington. The suspect is 45-year-old Monte Brown Jr. of Washington, DC. He’s charged in connection with the murder of 19-year-old David Frye of Washington, DC.
On May 15, 2024, at approximately 6:40 am, Maryland-National Capital Park Police and PGPD officers responded to a park in the 11900 block of Autumnwood Lane for a report of an unconscious man. When they arrived on the scene, officers found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
Through the course of the investigation, detectives identified Brown as the suspect. The Fugitive Unit located and took him into custody on Thursday. The victim and suspect were known to each other. The motive for the fatal shooting remains under investigation.
Brown is charged with first and second degree murder and related charges. He is in the custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.
The Prince George’s County Police Department investigates all homicides that occur in the jurisdiction of Maryland-National Capital Park Police.
