Doolittle’s amazing B-25 raid on April 18, 1942 to bomb Tokyo during World War II turned the tide in American spirit from bleak to heroic and is often credited with providing the inspiration to those fighting in the Pacific conflict.
Now, 67 years later, the folks from AirSupport, LLC in support of Disabled American Veterans keep that spirit alive.
According to Lynn May, event coordinator for the DAV aviation outreach program the B-25 outreach effort is one of the most popular attractions at airshows. “Most World War II veterans have memories of the B-25,” said May. She indicated that the imposing aircraft were used in every theater of the war, not just on Doolittle’s historic raid.
At the Air Expo 2009 this past weekend, AirSupport, LLC brought its working B-25 to the airshow and TheBAYNET.com’s ace photographer, John Douglass, was allowed to participate in a historic flight around the area.
