On Jan. 28, Cpl. Handy responded to St. Mary’s Hospital for a trespassing complaint. Upon arrival he made contact with the hospital security officer. The officer advised a Steven Wayne Cater, 50 of Lexington Park, was in the emergency room lobby with no legitimate reason for being at the hospital and did not require medical attention.
The officer further stated she had asked Cater to leave several times, which he refused. The officer believed Cater was very intoxicated as he was acting in a disorderly manner, cursing, yelling and disturbing the other waiting patients with his unruly behavior. Cpl. Handy made contact with Cater and ordered him several times to leave the hospital which he refused to comply.
Cpl Handy told Cater he was under arrest. After a short struggle, Cater was handcuffed and charged with trespassing, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
