La Plata, MD — Woof! Arf! Bow Wow! Those were some of the comments heard about the 4th Annual Maryland Dog Fest held Saturday and Sunday, April 11-12 at the Charles County Fairgrounds south of La Plata. The comments from two-legged attendees were equally enthusiastic.
Dogs of every size and breed (and mix) mingled mostly-harmoniously throughout the two days as their owners proudly showed them off. Those without dogs gawked at the canine parade and there were a number of rescue groups on hand for those looking to adopt.
This yearโs guest attraction, straight from Americaโs Got Talent, was Christian Stoinev with his dog Scooby. Back again this year were the popular Jersey Disc Devils. Also performing were the Mid-Atlantic Disc Dogs.
An agility course and weight pull area were available for humans and their four-legged companions to test their skills. And speaking of skills, Applejack K-9n Academy had a demonstration area for working dogs.
On the main stage, contests were held for dog fashion, talent, costume and dog and owner lookalike.
Calvert K-9 Search team conducted the American Kennel Club Good Citizen testing. And there was free paw painting available.
Throughout the fairgrounds and in the exhibit buildings vendors showed off their wares. And of course there was plenty of food available for humans and animals.
