LEONARDTOWN, MD โ€“ Dr. Michael J. Martirano, superintendent of schools, has been named the 2011 recipient of the Jack Epstein Award by the Maryland Multicultural Coalition/Chapter of the National Association for Multicultural Education (MMC/NAME).

โ€œDr. Martirano is an outstanding educator and leader who constantly strives to bring innovative programs to our school system,โ€ said Dr. Salvatore Raspa, chairman of the Board of Education of St. Maryโ€™s County. ย โ€œHe leaves no stone unturned when it comes to finding ways to educate all children to their fullest potential.ย  That has always been his motto.ย  He is a dynamic, innovative, inspirational leader who is deserving of this award.ย  We are so fortunate to have him in St. Maryโ€™s County.โ€
