At 12:12 am, on Monday, February 19, TFC Trossbach observed a white Pontiac Grand Prix exceeding the posted speed limit on Rt. 5, north of Rt. 234 in Leonardtown.
A traffic stop was initiated and contact was made with the driver, Dewayne Marcell Countiss, 27, of Leonardtown. A strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was emitting from his breath and person.
During the course of the traffic stop Mr. Countiss was arrested for driving while intoxicated.
The passenger was later identified as Natasha Maureen Kelly, 21 of Lexington Park.
A search incident to arrest revealed a small plastic bag of cocaine powder and two rocks of crack cocaine in the vehicle.
Ms. Kelly was placed under arrest. A search incident to the arrest revealed Ms. Kelly was also in possession of additional CDS and CDS paraphernalia.
Both subjects were incarcerated in the St. Mary’s County Detention Center pending a bond review.
