WALDORF, Md. — A Waldorf man is facing charges after being accused of slashing tires on multiple vehicles in a neighborhood early April 16, according to charging documents.
Cole Lennox James Franklin, 20, of Waldorf, was arrested following an investigation into a reported destruction of property incident in the 2000 block of Wedgewood Place.
Officers responded after a caller reported that tires had been slashed overnight and advised they were waiting in the parking lot to see if the suspect would return. Police located a man matching the description walking in the area wearing a face mask and gloves and carrying a knife.
Franklin was taken into custody without incident. A search revealed a large kitchen-style knife concealed in his pocket, and another knife was recovered nearby, according to court documents.
Investigators say Franklin admitted to slashing tires on multiple vehicles that night and also acknowledged a prior incident involving similar damage in the same area. Authorities allege a total of 12 tires across three vehicles were damaged, with losses estimated at approximately $1,200 per vehicle.
Franklin has been charged with malicious destruction of property valued at $1,000 or more, including a charge alleging a scheme involving multiple incidents.
He is currently being held without bond following a bail review hearing before Judge Patrick J. Devine in Charles County District Court.
A hearing is scheduled for April 24, 2026, in Charles County District Court. A trial scheduling hearing is set for June 10, 2026.
