LEXINGTON PARK, Md. — A St. Mary’s County man was arrested after deputies responded to a reported assault at a Lexington Park gas station late last Tuesday night, according to court documents.
Jordan Michael Burnett, 40, of Saint Inigoes, is charged with second-degree assault following the incident.
Deputies responded around 10:05 p.m. on April 14 to the Rod N Reel gas station on Three Notch Road for a reported assault in progress. Upon arrival, a witness directed deputies to the victim inside the store.
Investigators reported the suspect had been chasing a female prior to the incident. Deputies located the victim, who showed visible signs of injury, including a bleeding scalp wound and blood on her hands. Authorities determined the injuries were consistent with being pulled to the ground.
Burnett was later located less than a mile from the scene and taken into custody without incident. Deputies reported he admitted to arguing with the victim prior to the incident.
Court documents indicate the individuals are known to each other.
Burnett was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center and is being held without bond following a bail review hearing before Judge James Tanavage on April 16, 2026.
A trial is set for May 19, 2026, in St. Mary’s District Court.
Under Maryland law, second-degree assault carries a maximum penalty of up to 10 years in prison and/or a $2,500 fine.
