At 3:49 p.m. May 31, Charles County Medic Unit 609 was responding to an emergency call with their lights and siren activated and was traveling east on Smallwood Drive when they stopped for a red light at Old Washington Road.
As they proceeded through the intersection, a GMC Jimmy traveling south on Old Washington Road failed to yield the right of way to the Medic Unit, striking the driverโs side rear door.
The driver of the Medic Unit, William Lester Wedding, 72, of Indian Head was not injured. His two passengers, Margaret Elaine Wedding, 74, of Indian Head and Robert Petrash, 81, of Issue, were flown to Prince Georgeโs Hospital Center for precautionary measures.
The driver of the GMC, Deborah Jean Roberts, 55, of Waldorf and her passenger, James Larry Roberts, Jr., 33, of Waldorf were transported to Civista Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
Officer R. Taylor of the Charles County Sheriffโs Office Traffic Operations Unit is investigating.
