La Plata police officers are trained and equipped with Narcan (a narcotic blocker given to individuals who have overdosed) and over the past 18 months officers have saved lives deploying the lifesaving drug. As the opioids become more potent the danger of death increases even with early Narcan deployment by police officers and medical personnel. Education is the only way this public health crisis can become part of history!
