
LOTHIAN, Md. — A Dunkirk woman was killed Tuesday evening in a two-vehicle crash along Solomons Island Road in Anne Arundel County.
Officers with the Anne Arundel County Police Department responded around 7:35 p.m. on April 21, 2026, to the area of Solomons Island Road near Ducks Lane for a reported collision.
According to a preliminary investigation, a 2024 Ford F-350 towing a dump trailer was traveling southbound behind a 2022 Honda Accord when the Honda braked suddenly. Police say the Ford struck the left rear and driver’s side of the Honda.
Both vehicles then left the roadway, traveling off the right side into a wooded area. The Honda struck a tree head-on.
The driver of the Honda, identified as 68-year-old Wanda K. Hartley of Dunkirk, was transported to an area hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
The driver of the Ford, a 39-year-old man from Chesapeake Beach, declined medical treatment at the scene.
The Anne Arundel County Police Crash Reconstruction Team is investigating the cause of the crash.
