ย UPDATE Monday, Jan. 9
Waldorf, MD โ€“ ย A vacant two-story house in Charles County was deliberately set on fire early Saturday morning, Jan. 7, state investigators reported. According to the Maryland State Fire Marshalโ€™s Office, the fire at the house on Briarwood Drive in Waldorf was reported at 4:17 a.m.

โ€œUnknown suspects entered the unoccupied dwelling and intentionally set the house on fire,โ€ a deputy state fire marshalโ€™s report stated. Investigators determined the fire was set on the first floor.

Forty-five firefighters were dispatched to the one-alarm blaze and brought it under control in 30 minutes. There were no injuries. Damage to the house is estimated at $300,000.
