PINEY POINT, Md. – St. Mary’s County Health Department’s Clear Water® Program locally administers the Bay Restoration Fund – an ongoing grant program that awards grants to residents and small businesses. Monies are earmarked for reduction of pollution to the Chesapeake Bay through septic system upgrades and connections to public sewer. In many cases, these grants cover all expenses to upgrade septic systems and include maintenance costs for two years.

A meeting will be held at the Ruddy Duck Seafood & Alehouse on St. George Island 10 am Saturday January 26 to inform the public on this program and how they can apply for funding. St. Mary’s County Health Department environmental health specialist Heather Moritz will focus her talk on the grant process, changes that are allowing more people to be eligible for funding, septic upgrade benefits, maintenance of septic upgrades and basic septic system information. Attendees are asked to register by calling or texting 301-904-2387 or emailing BobLewis@StMarysRiver.org with the name of those that will attend.
