Ellynne en Pointe is on summer hiatus, but is taking a brief hiatus from the hiatus to bring you the following important updates. The regular weekly schedule for Ellynne en Pointe will resume shortly after Labor Day.

Maryland State GOP Chair Diana Waterman invites you to attend the Maryland State Fair opening in Timonium on Friday, August 22. Be sure to visit the GOP booth in Exhibition Hall, open weekends and Labor Day from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.; weekdays Monday – Thursday from noon to 10 p.m. The Fair runs for 11 days.

Diana also reminds us that August 18 was the 94-year-anniversary of the Nineteenth Amendment being ratified and becoming law, which guaranteed American women the right to vote.

And she cautions us to keep in mind that not voting for the Republican candidate in the General Election on November 4 is equivalent to casting a vote for the Democratic opponent; united we win!

The plot revolves around George and Charlotte Hay, fading stars of the 1950s, as they receive word while on tour in Buffalo, NY that Frank Capra is coming to see their matinee. At the Kennedy Center

-A Free Kennedy Center Show presented by the Safe Streets Arts Foundation, featuring former St. Mary’s County resident John Raley, will be held on Saturday, August 30 at 8 p.m. at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. This show, directed by Betty May, features short plays and other writings. Recommended for mature audiences, it is presented as part of the Page-to-Stage Festival at the Kennedy Center. Local actor John Raley studied theatrical arts at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City, The Studio and Shakespeare Theaters, The Studio Theater Acting Conservatory, and The Theater Lab. As a professional, he has appeared in 16 productions.

His local theatrical experience encompasses roles with: the Newtowne Players (“Captain Charlie” in Crabs Alive!, ”Puck” in Shakespeare in Hollywood, “Dr. Chumley” in Harvey, “Cletis” in Laundry and Bourbon/Lone Star, “Lenny Ganz” in Rumors, and “Etienne” in A Flea in Her Ear);  Port Tobacco Players (“Mr. Goldstone/Weber/Phil” in Gypsy, “Bookseller/Ensemble/Monsieur D’Arque” in Beauty and the Beast, and “Archbishop Thomas Cranmer” in A Man For All Seasons), the 2008 Stageworks Festival production of Ragtime as “Stanford White/Doctor/Fireman”, and as “John Hathorne” in the 2010 Southern Maryland Original’s production of Witch Hunt.
