A seven-hour car/bike/truck show has been organized to raise money for the surviving member of a tragic domestic incident in Owings. Organizers of the event reported the entire proceeds realized at the planned Sept. 8 benefit at Sneadeโs ACE Hardware in Lusby will be deposited into an account set up to benefit Frank Hayward III.
Kristen Freeman, a spokesperson for the organizers, has distributed a flier on the event, which will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. In addition to the display of vehicles, the show will include an appearance by the Washington Redskins Hogettes, live music by the Travis Adams Band and โa few other surprise guests.โ
โWeโve been told a few surprise guests would be coming,โ said Freeman, who added she has no information on who they are.
As of Thursday, Aug. 23, 70 cars have been registered for the show, leaving 80 spots still open. For car registration information contact Freeman at kristenfreeman15@yahoo.com.
Freeman said there may be a second fundraiser in the north end of Calvert later this year.
Meanwhile, local attorney Jennifer Dill of Ferrante & Dill LLC has disclosed that a judge has appointed her โguardian of the propertyโ for the young man, who is recovering from his injuries at Childrenโs Hospital.
Dill said Aug. 23 that โthe best possible place to direct fundsโ is the account that has been set up at Suntrust Bank. โThis is truly a protected account,โ she stated.
Dill indicated the court will eventually appoint a trustee for the account. For now, Dill serves as the guardian of property โbelonging to Frankie or owed to Frankie.โ
Since July 31, when Frank Hayward III was injured during an incident at his home, in which his father, mother and sister were found dead, the Calvert County community has responded with several fundraisers.
The July 31 incident remains under investigation by the Calvert Investigative Team. Calvert County Sheriff Mike Evans [R] has stated investigators believe Frank Hayward Jr., 32, killed his wife Cynthia, 31, and daughter Natalee, 2, and injured his son, plus set fire to the home before killing himself.
