A house fire in Lusby on Sunday afternoon left a family homeless. Volunteer firefighters were dispatched at 11:43 a.m. to Big Bear Lane.

A total of 60 firefighters responded from Solomonโ€™s, St. Leonard, Hollywood and Bay District fire houses, and it took an hour to put the fire under control.

The homeโ€™s owner, Stacey Stomp, discovered the fire that started with unattended food on the stove.

Maryland Deputy State Fire Marshal Jeffrey Frye reports the blaze caused $80,000 in damage to the house and contents.

Frye reports the family was displaced, and it unknown if they are receiving assistance.
