A year ago, Major League Baseball signed an extension of its deal with Majestic Athletic to design on-field uniforms for the 30 teams. But that doesn’t mean rivals Under Armour and Nike are taking a pass on big-league baseball.
Nike is Major League Baseball’s official “base layer,” meaning the swoosh appears beneath the jersey just below the neck.
Under Armour gets a sliver of TV time during MLB games, too. Its sponsored athletes include Orioles’ catcher Matt Wieters and Nationals’ outfielder Bryce Harper, the National League’s MVP last season. Harper and Wieters wear Under Armour cleats, and Wieters wears Under Armour chest protectors and shin guards.
