The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal collision in Camp Springs on Wednesday. The victim is 79-year-old Louis Rogers Sr. of Broad Creek Drive in Fort Washington.

On September 26th, at approximately 9:30 am, patrol officers were called to the 6300 block of Old Branch Avenue for a fatal collision involving a single vehicle.

The preliminary investigation reveals the victim was driving a hearse on Old Branch Avenue approaching Allentown Road, when for reasons that remain under investigation, the vehicle left the roadway. The vehicle ultimately struck a concrete median. The victim was pronounced dead a short time later at a hospital.

CAMP SPRINGS, Md. – Sept. 26, approximately 9:30 a.m., crews responded to reports of a fatal crash on Old Branch Avenue and Allentown Road, Camp Springs. Authorities report that the crash involved a hearse.

According to police the driver of the hearse lost control of the vehicle and struck a pole. He was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. The hearse was not carrying a casket at the time of the crash.ย 

The intersection of Old Branch Avenue and Allentown Road will be closed as police investigate.ย
