October 6, 2015 (Greenbelt, MD) – Educational Systems Federal Credit Union invites members of the education community to donate new winter hats, scarves, mittens and gloves to support its Warming Hearts and Hands initiative. The donated items are given to low-income students to keep them warm during the winter months. Donations can be made at any of the Credit Union’s branch locations between October 9 and December 1, 2015.

The Credit Union started the Warming Hearts and Hands program two years ago in partnership with the Homeless Education Offices of the seven school systems and three community colleges it serves. During the first two years, Credit Union employees and volunteers donated items. This year, the program is being expanded to include donations from the education community.

“Our core purpose is serving the education community,” said Chris Conway, President/CEO of Educational Systems FCU. “We started Warming Hearts and Hands because we discovered a need in the education community. The school systems and community colleges we serve told us that their homeless students needed cold weather items to help them stay warm on their way to school. By extending Warming Hearts and Hands to our members as well as employees and volunteers, we hope to help even more students this year.”

Educational Systems FCU has 12 branches located throughout Maryland including Annapolis, Aspen Hill, Bowie, California, Cherry Hill, Clarksburg, Greenbelt, Middlebrook, Rockville, Prince Frederick, Upper Marlboro and Waldorf.
