Greenbelt, MD —ย A 28-year-old Landover, Maryland man has been sentenced to more than 10 years in prison forย for drug and gun charges.
U.S. District Judge Theodore C. Chuang sentenced Tyrone Lavon Whiteย to 126 months in federal prison, followed by five years of supervised release for possession with intent to distribute controlled substances, possession of firearms and ammunition in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, and for being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.
According to his guilty plea, White was present at a residence when Prince Georgeโs County Police Department officers executed a search warrant.ย At the commencement of the search, White and the other occupants of the residence were advised of their rights.
During the search of the residence, law enforcement located in an upstairs bedroom a black backpack that contained a loaded 9x19mm semi-automatic pistol with an extended magazine containing 32 rounds of ammunition; a loaded 9x19mm semi-automatic pistol containing 16 rounds of ammunition; and nine bags of a substance containing marijuana.ย In addition, two vials of phencyclidine (โPCPโ) were recovered from the closet of the bedroom, and $2,250 in cash was found under the mattress in this bedroom.ย White admitted to the officers that all of the items recovered during the search belonged to him.ย Further, White admitted that he possessed the guns in furtherance of drug trafficking.
White had two previous felony drug trafficking convictions in Prince Georgeโs County Circuit Court and was prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition.
