WALDORF, Md. – On Sunday, March 18 at 10:30 a.m., units from the Waldorf Volunteer Fire Department responded to the 2000 block of Husk Place, Waldorf for the report of a structure fire at the Smallwood Gardens apartment complex.ย 

Upon arrival, firefighters discovered a fire in the utility sink of the first floor laundry room and were able to extinguish the fire in five minutes.ย ย 

Investigation revealed that the fire was the result of an unknown suspect(s) pouring cleaning chemicals over combustibles in the utility sink. An occupant of the building noticed smoke raising from the second floor and called 9-1-1. The damage from the fire is estimated to be $100.
