STRUCTURE FIRE IN MARYLAND

LEONARDTOWN, Md. — Firefighters brought a house fire under control Tuesday morning after conditions inside the home forced crews into a defensive operation.

The fire was reported around 9:20 a.m. on May 26, 2026, in the 23000 block of Hollywood Road.

A passerby called 911 after seeing a house on fire with smoke coming from the windows.

Arriving crews reported fire showing from the front of the two-story single-family home.

As crews worked the fire, the operation became defensive due to sagging on the second floor.

SMECO was requested to the scene.

The fire has been brought under control.

The fire remains under investigation.
