Forest Lee Wose, “Sonny”, 87, of California, MD, passed away on June 26, 2025, at his home. Born on December 9, 1937, in Syracuse, NY, he was the son of the late Nora Pickard and the late Forest C. Wose. Forest was the loving husband of Patricia Louise Wose, whom he married on August 14, 2004, in California, MD. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Forest D. Wose of Dunnellon, FL, Richard A. Wose (Patricia) of Lusby, MD, and Belinda D. Wilson (Matthew) of Phoenix, AZ, his siblings, Virginia Seagens of Syracuse, NY and Ronald Wose of CA, eight grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren. Forest was preceded in death by his siblings, Cindy Romero and Roger Wose.
Forest attended Fulton High School, where he met his first wife Shirley Mae and married in 1959. Forest served in the United States Navy for 20 years, from 1955 to1975, retiring in St. Mary’s County, MD. Forest opened and operated P & W Appliances in Great Mills, MD for over 30 years. He was a member of the VFW and the Fleet Reserve. In his spare time, Forest enjoyed fishing, boating, NASCAR, and football; the Dallas Cowboys were his favorite team.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 2, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD, where a funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 10:00 AM, with Pastor Dennis Gillikin officiating. Interment will follow at Charles Memorial Gardens, Leonardtown, MD. Serving as pallbearers will be David Wose, Dickie Wose, Jason Wilson, Kevin Adams, Adam Wose, and Shane Fitzpatrick. Honorary pallbearers will be Brianna Brash, Kaitlyn Maltese, Emily Venable, Dien Wilson, Charles Wardhaugh, and Patty Wose.
