Leonardtown, MD— On March.14, St.Mary’s County Sheriff’s Officeย Deputy M. Pleisse responded to the District Court House in Leonardtown, for the report of a subject found to be in the possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS).
When Pleisee arrived on the scene, he made contact with courthouse security and the defendant who was identified as, Datavisย J. Berry, 20, of Leonardtown. Courthouse securityย advised, “that Berry’s jacket pockets were searched after he entered the courthouse after Berry walked through the metal detector and the metal detector was activated,” according to charging documents.ย
In Berry’s pocket was a glass pipe with a burnt leafy substance residue and a small piece of burnt tin foil was found. According to charging documents, “the pipe smelled of marijuana.”
Berry advised, “he forgot he had those items in his pocket, he also advised he used the pipe to smoke marijuana. Once Berry was under arrest, Pleisseย further searched Berry’s jacket pocket and five small greenish pills with an “A” engraved on them were found,” according to charging documents,ย
Berry was arrested and transported to the St.Mary’s County Detention Center where he was charged with CDS possession: paraphernalia and CDS possession – not marijuana: oxycodone.
At this time, Berry does not have a scheduled court date. Berry faces a maximum jail sentence of four years and/or a maximum fine of $30,000.
