PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. Freedom Hill Horse Rescue, Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center, and Flag Ponds Nature Park are combining forces to offer the Calvert Peace Project’s Peaceful Youth Leaders Summer of Service this July.

This is a free summer camp opportunity that will take place from July 13-17. The program offers Calvert County youth ages 12-18 the chance to participate in volunteer projects, leadership development activities and community service experiences throughout the county. Camp is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day. Lunch, snacks and program supplies will be provided.

Each day, the campers will gather at a different location in Calvert County to participate in specially designed activities that foster community service and leadership. Together, they’ll develop skills in teamwork, communication and leadership, explore topics such as service, empathy and conflict resolution, and plan and complete a group service project.

Parents or guardians are responsible for transportation to and from each location. All students in Calvert County between the ages of 12 and 18 are eligible, and no prior volunteer experience is required.

“Our Summer of Service will provide your young person a meaningful and fun way to grow as leaders while serving people and the environment of Calvert County. This activity will introduce them to the importance of and satisfaction from taking positive actions with their peers and for their communities. Through service projects with community organizations and leadership development lessons, your youth will gain life skills, form friendships, and discover the power of service,” the camp website reads.

Registration is now open and is completely free. Once registered, campers will receive a detailed schedule of the camp week.
